SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) chose Chemspeed to enable its zeolite research

May 7, 2012

In July 2011, Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP) in Beijing PRC chose Chemspeed's High-Output Zeolite Synthesis Workflow (AUTOPLANT ZEO, including Workflow Management Software) based on Chemspeedpioneered, fully automated, individually controlled and operated process reactors in conjunction with its proprietary overhead gravimetric dispensing. This High-Output Zeolite Synthesis Workflow was successfully validated at Chemspeed in December 2011 and installed at Sinopec in February 2012. About Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing (RIPP), founded in 1956, is a comprehensive research and development organization specialized in petroleum refining and petrochemical engineering subordinated to SINOPEC Corporation. It is mainly devoted to the development and application of petroleum refining technologies, while laying stress on petroleum refining-petrochemical integration and focusing on the R&D of corresponding petrochemical technologies as well. In the recent years, it has been reinforcing its innovation in new alternative fuel and energy sources. It is now in the process of transforming itself into an all-directional energy R&D organization mainly engaged in petroleum refining and in petroleum refining petrochemical integration as well. During the passing years, in aspect of technology innovation RIPP not only attaches great importance to the cooperation with enterprises and designing institutes, but also lays stress on the market demands. RIPP has the solid R&D capability and advantages to develop integrated technologies for the whole refinery based on its strength in crude oil evaluation, R&D of petroleum processing technologies, related catalysts, and petroleum product preparation and evaluation. Its research involves ten fields and consists of 17 research departments. Through the construction and development for 55 years, RIPP has become a comprehensive R&D organization integrating technology licensing, technology consulting and technical service with petroleum refining and petrochemical engineering development. Ever since its foundation, RIPP has made 872 scientific and technical achievements with awards on a ministerial level as well as 123 State Prizes. Additional information

Complementary and Spatially Resolved Operando Spectroscopic Investigation of Pt/Al₂O₃ and Pt/CeO₂ Catalysts during CO/NO Conversion

The composition of reaction mixtures strongly influences the structural evolution and performance of noble metal-based catalysts. In this work, we compared the effect of the simultaneous presence of CO and NO on the noble metal state and CO oxidation activity of Pt/Al2O3 and Pt/CeO2 catalysts under close-to-stoichiometric conditions using complementary in situ/operando X-ray and infrared spectroscopic techniques.

Influence of the CeO₂ Morphology and Initial Pd–Pt Interaction Degree on Catalyst Activity and Stability

Due to its peculiar properties and strong interaction with noble metals, ceria is widely used as a catalyst support for numerous applications. In this work, morphologically pure and highly crystalline ceria nanocubes and nanorods were prepared to systematically investigate both the impact of the support morphology and Pd–Pt interaction degree on the noble metal-support interplay during CO oxidation.

High-throughput RAFT Polymerization via Automated Batch, Increment, and Continuous Flow Platforms

We report an automated strategy to conduct RAFT copolymerizations using a Chemspeed robotic platform capable of executing batch, incremental, and continuous monomer addition workflows under inert conditions. Copolymerizations of oligo(ethylene glycol) acrylate with benzyl acrylate (as a control) and fluorescein o-acrylate were conducted in toluene, THF, and DMF, with reaction progress monitored via ¹H NMR spectroscopy at defined intervals.
